This message was officially announced by PlayStation on Twitter that the
Mega event scheduled for Thursday, June 4th, 2020, has been canceled
due to the several unrests around several American cities caused by the
death of George Floyd who died in the hands of a White Cop in Minneapolis
after being “brutally” handled.

We decided to postpone the PS5 event from June 4. While we
understand that you are anxious to see PS5 games, we think this is
not the right time for that. For now, we are stepping back to allow
more important voices to be heard.
PlayStation foresees that the protest would have a negative impact on the number of people that will be attending its live PlayStation 5 release. As at the time this article was written, a new date for the PlayStation 5 release has not been announced.
